In 2020 Hyperdome underwent a major redevelopment to reinvigorate the Northern end of the mall, relocating Woolworths and upgrading the basement car park underneath.

Context

Located half way between the Gold Coast and Brisbane, Hyperdome is one of the largest, single storey shopping centres in Australia, and is the largest retail, lifestyle and entertainment destination in Logan City.

Taking inspiration from the curved volumes of the site architecture, our concept introduced round, pivoting, face illuminated beacons, which playfully wrapped the domed skylights at key decision nodes.

Solution

Our cohesive, site wide strategy unveiled an opportunity to influence movement through methods other than signage, such as large scale civic responses that connected to place and created moments of surprise and delight for patrons.

To respond to key wayfinding deficiencies uncovered early in our process, we introduced colour and naming strategies across the asset, to create differing and memorable experiences that would distinguish one area from another.

Our concept took cues from the large scale arches and material palette that was introduced in the North Mall, rolled out across the entire centre to ensure consistency and to improve the customer experience.
