Sitting on top of Fortitude Valley Station and directly below the newly refurbished Transport House Office Building, Valley Metro provides a vibrant urban retail, dining and entertainment offer for the 24,000+ commuters and visitors that pass through the site daily.
LaSalle Investment Management recently undertook redevelopment of the site, comprising of a 30 storey residential tower, a 24 storey office tower and redeveloped mall, home to over 30 retailers with a variety of offerings.
The architectural design builds on the centrally located site, providing enhanced connectivity between Brunswick Street, Wickham Street and Fortitude Valley Station, with multiple pathways converging at the mouth of the transport hub.
Our concept took inspiration from the dynamic architectural design, with perforated triangular forms extruding from the timber feature ceiling.
Our wayfinding strategy considered the diverse range of users of this evolving space, ensuring the system would be futureproof and that the needs of each user group were catered to.
To ensure that the resulting system was responsive and integrated, the design took cues from the built environment, helping to elevate the user experience throughout this transformed lifestyle destination.
